The successful candidate has significant experience in personal injury litigation (at least 1-3 years). They take initiative, are organized, hard-working, entrepreneurial minded and are encouraged and supported in building their own practice. The successful candidate will also receive a competitive compensation package including health benefits and growth opportunities. Pay is commensurate with experience.
The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities and duties:
- Oversees all aspects of tort/accident benefit and slip and fall claims
- Handle files of varying complexities from intake to resolution
- Work cooperatively within a team structure
- Identify files ready for settlement and prepare for settlement conferences
- Reviews, analyzes, and assesses all incoming medical and other productions/correspondence
- Interviewing clients and witnesses
- Effectively track limitation periods and deadlines
- Communicating with team members and clients to ensure files are up to date
- Responsible for ongoing review and management of files, assigning tasks, with assistance from paralegals and legal assistants
- Preparing clients for and attending examinations for discovery, motions, mediation, pretrials, etc.
- Drafting settlement proposals
- Help TSF Law achieve strategic goals on behalf of our clients
- Building and maintaining positive and professional working relationships with current and prospective clients
- Adhere to all applicable regulations/requirements and timelines/deadlines as required by the Law Society of Ontario and our clients
- Support and contribute to all TSF Law initiatives to create a positive work culture
- Share knowledge, provide/receive on-going coaching and support to/from your colleagues and administrative team
- Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate has and can demonstrate the following experience, skills and characteristics:
- A lawyer with 1-3 years practice within personal injury (preferably defence)
- Confident and dependable, with strong initiative
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to be a pragmatic problem solver
- Exudes a positive attitude
- Teachable and able to comply with all firm policies and procedures
- An entrepreneurial spirit/mindset
- Very strong knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedures
- Experienced in handling files from beginning to end
- Experience with resolving claims
- Work with minimal instruction or supervision
- Ability to work within tight timelines to meet deadlines, reassessing priorities as needed
- Self-starter with excellent critical thinking skills
- Proactive and takes initiative in anticipation of the next steps on a file
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Willing to learn new material and technology
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
