Mesec Law Professional Corporation, a firm whose roots go back over 40 years in Muskoka, is currently seeking an Associate Lawyer with at least 3 years of experience to join our team. The successful candidate must be interested exclusively in solicitor work with a focus on Real Estate Law, Corporate Law and Wills and Estate Administration. The successful candidate needs to possess a desire to join a prestigious and dynamic firm by contributing to a collaborative environment and creating strong and long-lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, community stakeholders and staff.
Mesec Law Professional Corporation is the successor firm to Thoms & Currie Professional Corporation. J. David Thoms and David R. Currie provided legal services in Muskoka and Parry Sound for over 40 years. Our office offers services in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, refinance transactions (including institutional and private mortgage transactions), corporate and commercial law (including corporate governance, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, share purchases/sales, asset purchases/sales, etc.), estate planning and the administration of estates, general contract law, and commissioning/notary services to the public. We take pride in our reputation and the fact that we have the pleasure of serving multiple generations of families throughout the Muskoka, Parry Sound and Haliburton region. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 3+ years work experience in Real Estate Law, Corporate Law, Wills and Estate Administration Law;
  • Licenced with the Law Society of Ontario and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
  • Trust and Estates Practitioner (“TEP”) Certification is beneficial;
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to manage files and direct staff independently and in a respectful manner;
  • Team player with a commitment to work collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, and time management skills;
  • Excellent research and drafting skills;
  • Reliable, punctual, responsible and able to maintain confidentiality;
  • Interested in engaging with community stakeholders and service organizations;
  • Competence in the use of office administrative software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word, and industry software such as Teranet, Unity, Estate – A - Base, Appara is beneficial.

Office Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
Office Location: 6 Main Street West, Huntsville, Ontario
