THE DEPARTMENT
The School of Health and Social Care delivers a well-established, large and diverse portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate and degree apprenticeship courses leading to registration in 14 different professions. These include Nursing (all fields), Midwifery, Social Work, Paramedic Science, Operating Department Practitioner, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Diagnostic Radiography, Radiotherapy and Oncology, Dietetics and Art Psychotherapy. We support practitioners to continue to develop their professional roles through our extensive continuing professional development portfolio, our graduates working in local, national, and international health and social care sectors. Responsibilities:
We are looking to expand our team with inspirational Associate Lecturers (ALs) who have a passion for delivering high quality learning experiences along with substantial industry experience gained through teaching, relevant industry experience or both.
You may be currently working in a relevant industry and/or have spent time working in a relevant industry and may be interested in combining this with your enthusiasm and ability to pass on your knowledge and experience by creating and delivering high quality learning, teaching, and assessment.
We are looking for people who can teach in the following areas:
- Patient care and public involvement
- Health inequalities and the social determinants of health
- Digital literacy in healthcare
- Client engagement and solution-focused nursing
- Healthcare policy and practice fundamentals
- Leadership in healthcare practice
- Supervision in healthcare setting
- Organisational change and innovation
- Interpreting evidence-based practice
- Service development in healthcare
You will be asked to write and facilitate modules for postgraduate students, in an asynchronous online format, and will also contribute to the continuous improvement of learning activities and assessments. Dissertation supervision may also be part of your role.
Becoming an AL can be an excellent introduction to teaching in higher education. Some teaching experience would be an advantage; however, you may have well developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical and theoretical considerations from an academic and/or professional perspective in one or more of the aspects related to Nursing Studies as listed above.
