ABOUT US
The English Department at UCL is one of the oldest the country, founded in 1828, and is recognised as among the leading departments of English Literature and English Linguistics in the world. The Department offers a single honours degree which covers the full range of the subject, and two MA programmes in: English Linguistics, and Issues in Modern Culture. These programmes and our PhD programme are successful in attracting students from overseas as well as the UK and EU. The Department consists of about 30 full-time permanent staff, approximately 330 single-honours undergraduates, 80 graduate students, 30 research students and, each year, about 30 affiliate students. We have buoyant UCAS applications, with thirteen applicants per place and a high-quality intake
We are seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in English Literature, primarily to teach our undergraduate module covering English Literature of the Romantic period. An ability to teach nineteenth-century American Literature would also be desirable. The post is a full-time fixed-term appointment available from 22 September 2025 until 30 June 2026.
