REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent; bachelor’s degree or master’s degree may be accepted in place of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license held for a minimum of two years, be at least 18 years old at time of hire, and meet Salem Health Fleet Safety requirements within three months of employment and maintain eligibility thereafter.
  • Minimum of four years of building and equipment maintenance or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE WITH US

As an associate maintenance engineer at West Valley Hospital, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our facilities by performing a variety of repairs, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and building systems. Under limited supervision, you will work closely with the maintenance team to resolve emergency situations, complete assigned maintenance tasks, and provide excellent customer service. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Perform minor and complex repairs, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and building systems, following manufacturer specifications and hospital standards.
  • Respond to and resolve emergency situations on systems and equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and patient care continuity.
  • Participate in watch standing activities to monitor physical building and hospital equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance and operational activities in the electronic maintenance management system.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and leadership, providing timely updates and pertinent information regarding maintenance requests.
  • Monitor and order facilities maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and decision-making activities, contributing to process improvements and innovation.
  • Assist in training and development activities as requested, and provide support to co-workers and department leads as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and standards.
