This is an on-site position located in Goleta, CA. Toyon Research Corporation is an industry leader in the areas of complex space and missile systems analysis, aerothermodynamics, design and development, and ground and flight testing. Our Aerospace Systems Group provides innovative technical solutions to support aerospace programs for the Department of Defense (DoD) and their agencies. We are seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support the development of advanced electro-mechanical designs from R&D to production. Responsibilities Assist with the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems for space applications Support the creation of CAD models, assemblies, and detailed mechanical drawings Translate technical requirements into practical design solutions Contribute to mechanical documentation including build instructions, test plans, and reports Collaborate with experienced engineers across multiple disciplines to ensure system performance and reliability Participate in design reviews, lab activities, and integration tasks Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar program 1 year of relevant engineering experience preferred, or equivalent internship or project experience for recent college graduates Able to apply knowledge of mechanical design principles, structural materials, and hardware selection Good understanding of engineering documentation standards (ASME Y14.5, etc.) Interest in working on space systems and learning from a multidisciplinary team Demonstrated detail-oriented design, analysis and documentation process, using Word/Excel/PowerPoint to communicate progress and results Preferred Experience with 3D CAD modeling—SolidWorks or Creo preferred Exposure to aerospace or high-reliability environments (e.g., CubeSat, satellite, or mechanical system projects) Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100/MIL specifications Hands-on prototyping or testing experience WE OFFER AN EXCEPTIONAL EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PACKAGE!
