Description

Job Title: Associate Mental Health Nurse (Self-Employed – Children & Families)
Location: Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire (some remote work possible)
Pay: £70 per session (you retain £50; £20 paid to New Vision Nursing Ltd)
Contract type: Self-employed
Hours: Part-time and flexible – start with 2–3 clients per week and build at your own pace. You will need to be involved in growing your caseload, and your initial client referrals are not guaranteed, as is the nature of private practice.
Closing date: 30th September 2025
About the Role
New Vision Nursing Ltd is looking for a self-employed Registered Mental Health Nurse to join a small, values-led therapeutic service for children, young people, and families. This is an associate role where you’ll work flexibly, at your own pace, and with the support of an established brand, systems, referrals, and a warm therapy space. You will be given the autonomy to grow your caseload, with guidance and advice from others who have also leapt into the world of independent mental health nursing.
This role is ideal if you’ve worked in CAMHS or other systems and want to reconnect with the meaning behind the title of ‘mental health nurse’ — offering depth, maximising autonomy, relational care, and space to practise ethically.
You’ll receive client referrals, a business email, a therapy room, a clinical record system, clinical supervision (optional), and a profile on the website and a Psychology Today profile. In return, you’ll contribute £20 from each session to cover these costs — you keep the remaining £50.
We work within the scope of psychiatric nursing from a psychosocial model. We do not offer diagnosis or prescribe medication.

  • Manage safeguarding and risk independently
  • Work under the New Vision Nursing brand while remaining fully self-employed
  • Contribute to a small, supportive peer network of independent mental health nurses
  • Ethically manage client endings if/when leaving the role

  • NMC-registered RMN
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualifying experience

  • Ability to work independently and safely
  • Willingness to use New Vision Nursing systems and branding
  • Local to Barton-under-Needwood or willing to travel
