M&P Engineering is looking for an Associate or Mid-Level Materials and Process – Interiors Engineer (Mid-Level) to join the team in North Charleston, South Carolina. This position is responsible for developing new Materials and Processes (M&P) to support 787 Production with a focus on interiors and product protection technologies. The position will be supporting a fast-paced shop environment and will require hands-on work in both laboratory and factory settings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Strong written and verbal skills with experience to effectively work collaboratively with other engineering and production functions.
  • Experience working independently with some guidance from more experienced engineers and scientists

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years’ related work experience with aerospace interiors/composite material and/or film and adhesives testing
  • Experience with Materials Research and Development
  • Experience with Boeing material and process specifications
  • Experience with the evaluation and qualification of materials, suppliers, equipment, technology and processes
  • Comfort working in an environment of change and in support of internal and external customers, technical challenges, and deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Work on cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and production process improvements
  • Assists with definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of Boeing products
  • Drafts engineering specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes
  • Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
  • Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
  • Performs routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
  • Conducts routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes
  • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
