Description

Pathway seeks a strategic, relationship-focused consultant relations professional who will play pivotal roles in enhancing our engagement with consulting firms in their EAST COAST or MIDWEST TERRITORY. A key priority for this role is to build brand awareness and engagement with both research and field consultants, ensuring Pathway is well-positioned for new mandates across our private equity, private credit, and infrastructure strategies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3–8 years of experience working with institutional investment consultants (research and field) within the alternative asset management industry (ideally the private markets).
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and investment products, particularly in alternative assets (ideally the private markets).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across the business.
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking and business planning.
  • A strong and verifiable track record of raising capital from consultants and plan sponsors.
  • Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial work habits. The candidate must be resourceful, organized, a self-starter, and must possess a strong ability to source and close new business.
  • Willingness to spend considerable time, including travel (i.e., several times per month) with consultants and, to a lesser extent, plan sponsors.
  • A collaborative approach including the ability to work closely with the firm’s existing sales and marketing team and the firm’s senior investment professionals.
  • Ability to fit into the firm’s culture, which places significant value on teamwork, integrity, strong work ethic, and exceptional client service.
  • Although not mandatory, an MBA, CFA, or CAIA is preferable.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategies to build and maintain strong relationships with investment consultants. Serve as the primary liaison for consultant groups.
  • Grow and market the firm’s investment management capabilities to institutional investment consultants. Educate consultants about the firm’s offerings and value propositions, aiming to win new private market mandates across our private equity, private credit, and infrastructure offerings.
  • Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships across consultant research teams, from senior leadership to analysts. Deliver a first-class due diligence experience to consultant research teams, ensuring they thoroughly understand and appreciate Pathway’s offerings.
  • Create and implement strategic business plans that drive sales and retention activities. Identify growth opportunities and address potential challenges.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management. Provide consultant feedback to internal partners.
  • Lead the process for consultants’ review and underwriting of the firm’s strategies, including coordination of RFP responses, questionnaires, due diligence meetings, and investment reviews.
  • Provide input on marketing strategy development and new product development. Assist with the idea generation for the firm’s marketing collateral and other content.
  • Develop opportunities for thought leadership content creation and distribution. Partner with marketing and investment teams to develop white papers and case studies.
