Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Lumen is seeking early-career or second-career self-starters who are self-motivated with high technical aptitude and interest in a Network and Telecomm Customer Support role. In this Associate Engineer position, you will participate in our Engineering Construction & Operations (ECO) Academy which is a robust training program to jump-start and enable your success in this role. This rigorous program is designed to develop tech-savvy individuals in network operations, IP, and customer care where you will learn about our technology, networks, products, processes, and customer service best practices.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing, installing, and maintaining fiber optic cable systems and equipment in our data centers and offices.
  • Using systems such as SAP, Microsoft Office, Autocad, Microstation and/or Lumen-specific systems (Sitetracker, NDS) to plan, manage, and document outside plant projects.
  • Managing budgets, ordering materials, processing invoices, and resolving issues related to outside plant projects.
  • Working with networking optical hardware, such as transponders, amplifiers, switches, routers, and servers.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving network issues, such as outages, performance degradation, and configuration errors.
  • Building relationships with business partners, customers, and vendors.
  • Creating maintenance requests and ensuring timely completion of work orders.
  • Demonstrating multi-discipline expertise and responsibility.
