Join TCO’s Transport & Investment team to deliver high‑impact economic policy advice for Cabinet and the Premier on major projects and reforms. About the Role The Transport and Investment team in the Economic Policy branch is seeking an ongoing Associate, Policy to deliver sharp, evidence‑based economic policy advice that informs Cabinet decisions. You will review Cabinet proposals, lead and/or contribute to strategic projects, and coordinate consultation with stakeholders across NSW Government and external partners. The team advises on a broad range of policy areas, including transport infrastructure (such as Metro), transport services (such as buses and light rail), new roads, investment and innovation, cultural and vibrancy policy. You’ll develop, evaluate and report on policy approaches and initiatives; prepare persuasive briefs for The Cabinet Office Executives and the Premier; and work collaboratively to meet dynamic timeframes and milestones. These roles sit within the Economic, Housing and Infrastructure Policy Group and may support work across other Policy Groups in line with priority government agendas. We're Looking For Qualifications & Experience: Appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training in policy development, project work, or service delivery reform Policy & Economic Analysis: Proven ability to research, analyse, and translate complex data and evidence into practical policy options, including cost–benefit and impact analyses. Note however that you do not have to have formal economics qualifications for this role but an interest in understanding the economic lens of policy is welcome. Cabinet Process & Briefings: Experience drafting clear, persuasive briefs, Cabinet submissions, and policy papers with strong attention to detail and compliance with required standards Project Delivery: Demonstrated capability in planning, coordinating, and delivering strategic projects or service delivery reforms, managing competing priorities, and achieving outcomes within dynamic timeframes Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in building productive relationships and facilitating effective consultation with NSW Government agencies, external partners, and other stakeholders to align advice and delivery Communication: Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including executive stakeholders and the Premier; write fluently in plain English and visualise insights for non-technical readers.
