The successful candidates will be working in the Laboratory at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, Wansbeck General Hospital and North Tyneside General Hospital and there may be a requirement to work at other laboratory sites within the Trust.
Candidates should have a flexible approach to working, demonstrate good organisational skills and the ability to work under supervision using standard operating procedures. Previous experience working in an NHS Haematology or Transfusion laboratory is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

This role will provide support to Biomedical Scientists and will include functions such as receipt and assessment of the suitability of pathological specimens for analysis, preparation of samples for diagnostic testing, performing laboratory tests after appropriate training, running internal quality control samples for various analysers, stock control including blood stock management and the monitoring of storage facilities.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
To work as part of a team in the provision of an efficient and smooth running haematology and centralised blood transfusion service. The post holder will be required to perform a range of diagnostic tests and support functions across all sites within the Trust
