Description:

The Associate Banker (Nesbitt Burns) is accountable for providing relationship management, a superior client experience and integrated banking solutions to a portfolio of Nesbitt Burns clients. The role is accountable to nurture the BMO relationship with the goal of becoming the client’s primary bank. With the direction of the BMO Nesbitt Burns Investment Advisor (IA), the Associate Banker will manage the retention and expansion of Banking relationships through a proactive contact strategy and an ongoing review of the most appropriate person to serve the client’s banking needs. The objective is to grow overall banking revenue while maintaining adherence to the Bank’s risk tolerance.
The role is resident in a Nesbitt Burns office and is accountable to build and manage a network of IA referral sources. The role delivers exceptional service by truly understanding BMO Nesbitt Burns clients and conducting a thorough financial needs assessment to offer the most appropriate banking solution that deepens the BMO relationship by fulfilling the client’s immediate and future financial needs. The Associate Banker provides personal Everyday Banking services which include deposit and payment solutions and simple personal lending services to support the achievement of market business goals. If/when a client has more complex banking and borrowing needs, this role is accountable to transition the relationship to the PCD Private Banker. This role is also accountable for assessing new clients referred by the IA and determining if the client’s Banking needs are best serviced by Private Wealth or P&BB, based on the profile and potential of the client.
For simple personal lending transactions, this role underwrites the transaction and makes credit recommendations in accordance with sound credit granting principles and in accordance with the Bank’s Policies and Procedures. This role also is accountable for fulfillment of the lending products with funding activities being provided by a Personal Funding Specialist or PBOC within Private Wealth’s lending centres. The future intention of Home financing fulfilment to be transitioned to Product Operations when that becomes operational for Private Wealth.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop a 12 month rolling plan to achieve targets.
  • Work with BMO Nesbitt Burns partners to proactively identify prospects and contribute to growing client loyalty by creating great customer experiences grounded in an understanding of high net worth client needs.
  • Act as an ambassador to assist BMO Financial Group in enhancing its marketplace presence and growing its services in the community.
  • Negotiate appropriate pricing using discretion where required to build a profitable portfolio.
  • Enhance the profile of BMO Private Wealth by participating in meaningful and focused business and community activities, seeking out and creating opportunities to generate new Private Wealth business.
    Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Personal Credit Qualification at a working level (no limits).
  • Undergraduate University degree or equivalent job-related experience
  • 3 to 5 years banking experience
  • Expert knowledge of Everyday Banking products and services
  • Working knowledge of Personal credit and non-credit products.
  • RISR designation (minimum IFIC completed)

SKILLS:

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience providing banking and personal lending services to the mass affluent market
  • Working sales and client service skills
  • Working business development skills
  • Working level interpersonal and communication skills
  • Personal Lending Credit Qualified Working without limits
  • Analytical thinking in a systematic way.

  • Provide comprehensive and integrated financial solutions for clients, with a focus on satisfying Everyday Banking and simple borrowing needs, goals and objectives, identifying more complex borrowing needs and making referrals to the most appropriate Bank resource.
