SUMMARY:

The Retail Branded Bacon Associate Product Manager is an integral member of the brand team and works closely with cross-functional partners to bring products to market, manage day-to-day business needs, and ensure smooth execution of plans. This role encompasses general management responsibilities with P&L responsibilities, including the development of strategic business and marketing plans to achieve corporate and category volume, profit, and share objectives. By gaining exposure to brand management, marketing, and operations, this position it a great opportunity to build skills and experience in the food industry.
Responsibilities and Competencies
Drives Businesses

Financial Acumen

  • Develop financial acumen by utilizing P&L levers to drive financial performance and share objectives.
  • Manage budget responsibilities, including MAP spending, and proactively ensure forecast accuracy and alignment with JBP (Joint Business Plan) objectives.
  • Apply knowledge of retail pricing, costing models, and private label strategies to drive profitability and customer alignment.

Strategic Thought Leadership

  • Develop and execute business and marketing plans that align with corporate goals and customer strategies.
  • Develop brand and category strategies—including positioning, pricing, and promotion—grounded in insights and long-term vision.

Analytical

  • Analyze internal and external data to uncover insights, prioritize high-impact opportunities, and tell a compelling business story that guides decision-making.

Retail Pricing & Costing Acumen

  • Apply understanding of cost models, retail pricing structures, strategic pricing management, and trade investment to optimize financial outcomes.

Operational Mindset

  • Balance strategic thinking with an operational mindset, understanding supply chain capabilities and implications for cost and execution.
  • Manage operational and supply planning by understanding inventory levels and customer order patterns to efficiently direct product through the distribution network and minimize waste.

Business Planning

  • Align with cross-functional teams to support short-term demand planning and long-term capacity planning.
  • Optimize execution through proactive planning focused on volume delivery and cost control.

Results Orientation

  • Monitor business performance and implement course corrections to meet financial goals.
  • Demonstrate bias for action with accountability for delivering initiatives on time, on budget, and on forecast.

Grow Categories

Product & Category Acumen

  • Lead end-to-end product and packaging innovation—from concept development through commercialization—with customer sell-in and in-market performance tracking.
  • Apply category and competitive insights to build differentiated product offerings that align with portfolio goals.

Retail Consumer & Customer Acumen

  • Leverage deep understanding of category dynamics, value tiers, and consumer behavior to inform brand and business strategies.
  • Integrate customer strategies into marketing plans and engage with the sales organization to align priorities.

Brand Building

  • Build Tyson-owned brands and elevate their presence in the marketplace through cohesive positioning and marketing execution.
  • Contribute to development of communication, advertising, and promotional strategies that drive consumer engagement.

Strategy & Execution

  • Collaborate with Private Label team to support development and execution of strategies specific to category dynamics and customer needs, contributing to growth and differentiation.

Innovation Strategy

  • Contribute to short- and long-term innovation strategies grounded in category, consumer, and customer insights.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver innovative initiatives that meet business objectives.

Cross Functional Partnership

Influence

  • Demonstrate influence through clear, tailored communication, stakeholder alignment, and the ability to inspire others around a shared purpose while representing Tyson’s core values.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, R&D, Supply Planning, Finance, External Agencies) to ensure seamless execution of marketing and innovation plans.
  • Foster alignment, accountability, and high performance across teams and partners.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelors Degree required; MBA a plus.
Experience: A minimum 2 years of relevant marketing or product management experience is required.
Special Skills if applicable: Demonstrated strong analytical and strategic thinking skills are required; strong communication and presentation skills are required; strong collaborator with a demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams; proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment is required; experience with Nielsen and or IRI is preferred.
Supervisory: None.
Travel: 6-10 trips per year.
Location: Tyson Foods Corporate Office, Springdale, AR.
