Department/ Unit: School of Governance and Policy Science Closing Date: Until the post is filled The Chinese University of Hong Kong is one of the world’s leading universities, ranked 6th in Asia and 32nd globally by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and ranked No. 1 in Hong Kong in the Best Global Universities Rankings 2025-26 by the U.S. News & World Report. The School of Governance and Policy Science (SGPS) is seeking an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor on substantiation (tenure) track in the field of international political economy (IPE). The School is particularly interested in scholars whose research resonates with economic, financial, and trade issues related to East Asia. The appointee will (a) drive an active research agenda in IPE, (b) deliver teaching for the MSSc programme in Global Political Economy (MGPE) as well as related courses for the undergraduate programmes—in Global Studies, Government and Public Administration, Data Science and Policy Studies—while contributing to building research and collaborations within and beyond the University, and (c) undertake academic administrative service. Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in a subject area relevant to IPE and (ii) a proven track record of strong research productivity. For Associate Professor rank, applicants should have an established programme of research, a strong record of publications, as well as a track record of success in obtaining competitive research grants. The appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years commencing August 2026. Subject to performance, funding availability, and mutual agreement, the appointee may be reviewed for a longer-term appointment or substantiation. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
