At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Clinical Medicine, a position as part time associate professor in Health Economics are open for appointment as of October 1, 2025, or soon here after. The position is permanent with 11.1 hours per week (30%).
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Appointment as an associate professor requires research and teaching qualifications at the level that can be achieved through the satisfactory completion of a period of employment as an assistant professor but may also be obtained in other ways.
It is a precondition that applicants have documented research at an international standard. In addition, applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.
WHO WE ARE
The vacant position is with Danish Center for Health Services Research, which is a mission-driven interdisciplinary research center. The overall aim of the center is to improve the quality of care, including the cost-effectiveness of the healthcare sector, by providing decision-makers with research-based inputs for decision-making. We are approximately 40 persons, including health economists, epidemiologists, statisticians, clinicians, sociologists, and administrative staff, who work closely on interdisciplinary projects and research programs. We are located in a vibrant and lively academic setting in a brand-new building which is closely integrated with the new Aalborg University Hospital. Danish Center for Health Services Research has been appointed as the national center for health services research in Denmark from 2027 and will have a central role in the evaluation of the implementation and effect of national healthcare reform. The Department of Clinical Medicine delivers research-based teaching across all disciplines of the medical degree programme and conducts research within the clinical specialties. We collaborate closely with hospitals in the North Denmark Region and with general practice in both teaching and research.
Medical students receive instruction at multiple hospital locations and in general practice throughout the region.
The department is affiliated with approximately 40 research units, each representing a specific medical specialty, and is also associated with several other research centres and collaborative units. Most of the department’s staff hold concurrent clinical positions alongside their academic appointments.

The successful candidate must actively contribute to strengthening the profile of the center within health economics and market access. This includes active participation in the research activities, i.e. developing, implementing, and managing research projects and contributing to external fund raising.
The appointment includes an obligation to take part in the management and teaching of relevant courses within health economics and market access including supervision and examination. Additionally, an interest in planning and coordination of Master programmes is required. The courses are on both a basic and an advanced level at the Master programme of Medicine with Industrial Specialization, Medical Market Access, and the Master programme of Public Health at Aalborg University. As some of the teaching is in English the applicants must document the ability to teach, supervise, and assess both written and oral presentations in English.
