Department of Social Work Associate Professor (Ref. 250000U3) (Closing Date: Until the post(s) is/ are filled.) As a world-leading centre of social work education and research, the Department is dedicated to developing and disseminating scientific rigorous and socially impactful social work knowledge for human betterment and social development. We aspire, through our research and evaluation work, to improve the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, deepen our understanding of social issues and promote evidence-based practice locally and globally. The Department is looking for candidates who embrace these goals and values. Scholars specializing in any of the following research areas are welcome to apply for the posts: - clinical social work - children and family - gerontology - macro social work theories and practice Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree; (ii) a strong publication track record; (iii) proven ability to obtain grants and conduct research to generate academic and social impact; (iv) demonstrated academic leadership; and (v) evidence of outstanding teaching performance. Being registered social workers and having professional expertise or substantial work experience in clinical or macro social work practice will be added assets. The appointees will (a) undertake research; (b) teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses; (c) supervise research postgraduate students; and (d) take up key administrative roles for the Department. Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation. Responsibilities
