Department Overview The Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery is one of the largest divisions within the Department of Surgery, comprised of a team of dedicated faculty in support of OHSU as a Level 1 trauma center. Our trauma surgeons provide expert care to the most seriously injured patients in the state, instruct future generations of trauma surgeons, and conduct research into improving and advancing the treatment of trauma patients. Its surgical critical care fellowship program sponsors four fellows each year. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. This position reports to (supervisor): Justin Regner, MD, FACS Division of Trauma, Critical Care & Acute Care Surgery Function/Duties of Position The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. This position is under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Surgery and the Head of the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery. The trauma, critical care and acute care surgeon shall be expected to perform clinical and basic science research. Duties will also include resident, fellow, student and staff teaching. This position requires undivided effort at the specified FTE. The general pattern of working hours will be set by the Head of the Division, but deviations from general patterns may be necessary to meet projected requirements. The ideal candidate would have the potential to achieve independent federal research funding. Required Qualifications Candidates must be board certified/eligible in general surgery and be able to sit for the certificate of added qualifications in surgical critical care.
