EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:

  • BS (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or Visio to create or modify design documents.
  • Implementation and support experience with control systems and/or DCS systems is required.
  • PLC and logic programming, configuration, and support experience is required.
  • Experience with databases and SQL queries, PC/server configuration, thin client systems, and/or VMware is a plus.
  • Experience in the Energy industries is a plus.
  • Experience working in an integrated IT/OT environment with frequent collaboration with IT personnel is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Thorough understanding of electric circuits and making decisions based on diagrams is a requirement.
  • Thorough understanding of network communications and OT cybersecurity concepts is required.
  • Thorough understanding of control panel design and wiring and plant instrumentation is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks/projects and prioritize work effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism.
  • Able to operate within a team atmosphere and interface effectively with a diverse set of groups and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to keep skills up-to-date and to acquire new skills to improve our support for the business.
Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE:

Survey, design, installation oversight, and commissioning of metering equipment and data gathering hardware. Oversee contractor’s work at certain phases of the project. Provides support to the contractor for build/assembly of scope of supply. Conducts system commissioning/start-ups, operation & maintenance training, providing support for existing installations, and identify areas of improvement.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commissioning and start-up of utility grade metering equipment.
  • Engineer & design of new or modified advanced metering system equipped to meet customer objectives.
  • Review project, equipment and proposed design plans to ensure it meets specifications.
  • Conduct on-site survey / walkthrough with operating, contractors and engineering personnel.
  • Conducts lab testing as needed for process troubleshooting or process optimization.
  • Typically works on one or more projects for a length of time.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect and re-build of existing equipment in the field.
  • Composes documentation/procedures, internal memoranda and reports in a timely manner.
  • Willing and able to travel 30%, including flights and hotel stays.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD / Visio drafting.
  • Basic network understanding and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of MEP drawings (Ie.. electrical, mechanical and plumbing drawings).
