Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced projects and construction Lawyer, Associate or Senior Associate with a of 2-6 years post admission experience to join our busy and successful Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team in our Melbourne office. You will be working closely with two partners, Geoffrey Emmett and Ben McLeod, on a wide range of high-quality construction work (both front end and back end). You will need to demonstrate solid expertise in drafting of commercial and litigation documents, provision of commercial legal advice and be commercially astute.
This role will give you the opportunity to consistently challenge yourself through being exposed to a range of interesting projects, construction and infrastructure work, as well as being exposed to a range of clients including head contractors, developers, consultants and subcontractors. You will be provided with continuous learning opportunities and will be mentored and supported as you develop your career. Your learning experience will be underpinned by an excellent CLE program and the opportunity to build relationships within our National Projects & Construction team and gain exposure to work across Australia.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL IDEALLY HAVE

  • Experience as an admitted lawyer with 2 - 6 years PQE experience within projects and construction
  • Exposure to both front end and back end work is essential, and front end work is desirable
  • A strong academic record coupled with excellent technical legal skills
  • A commitment to excellence and delivery of high-quality outcomes to our clients
  • Ability to effectively manage your own time, managing competing tasks and at time working to tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
