Mō te Tūranga | About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate to join our Property Finance team, based in Wellington. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and manage a portfolio of customers, as well as grow your skills in credit writing, portfolio risk monitoring, and deal with all aspects of client requests. We sat down with our Associate Director – Property Finance, and they let us know the following about the role: What are some of the day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete? Assist with preparing credit submissions, annual reviews and lending renewals, building your skills in financial analysis, risk assessment and credit writing. Support relationship managers with day‑to‑day client needs, helping deliver Property Finance solutions and learning how deals are structured and managed. Help manage development lending activity, including monthly drawdowns, reviewing QS and other reports, and learning how to identify and escalate potential risks. Prepare clear summaries, term sheets and briefing notes to support conversations with internal stakeholders such as Credit and senior leaders. What is the team culture and environment like? What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role? 2+ years’ experience in Commercial or Corporate Banking or Finance or Institutional banking or another relevant professional with an understanding of accounting, legal, valuation and tax issues. A genuine interest in Property Finance, with curiosity and motivation to learn credit, deal structuring and risk management. Strong organisation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work confidently with others. A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn, seek feedback, and continuously develop technical and commercial capability. Understanding of financial analysis, credit issues, risk management and debt structuring You will also have excellent communication skills (both verbal & written), ability to confidently prioritise and manage time critical tasks with conflicting priorities, all with a curiosity and willingness to seek continuous self-improvement within your role.
