Description

We’re looking for an Associate Risk Manager to join our 2nd line Risk team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in strengthening our risk culture and supporting our business in managing risk effectively.

Responsibilities

WHAT WILL YOUR ROLE LOOK LIKE?

You’ll act as a trusted risk partner across a range of business and support units, helping to embed our Risk Management Framework, deliver assurance activities, and support continuous improvement. You’ll also contribute to strategic reporting and help shape the future of risk at Hymans Robertson.
We offer hybrid working, with flexibility to be based in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, and support for remote working and flexible hours within core business times.

THOUGH THIS IS A VARIED ROLE, YOUR KEY TASKS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Partnering with business units to review and challenge risk assessments, oversee risk events, and support 1st line Risk Champions.
  • Presenting risk insights at key forums, including our Strategic Operations Group.
  • Supporting the evolution of our Risk Management Framework and reporting processes.
  • Contributing to quarterly risk reporting for senior governance bodies.
  • Leading and delivering 2nd line assurance activities, including scoping, fieldwork, and reporting.
  • Designing and delivering engaging risk training across the firm.
  • Collaborating with teams such as Legal, Regulatory, and Information Governance to ensure a joined-up approach.
  • Maintaining and enhancing our risk systems and tools.
  • Staying informed on industry trends and best practices.
  • Being a visible, approachable, and valued member of the Risk team.

TO ENJOY AND SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

Essential:

  • Substantial experience in a risk management related role in an FCA regulated environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate confidently and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and ideally SharePoint.

Desirable:

  • Risk management degree or IRM certificate in Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Experience with the development of PowerBI dashboards for reporting
  • SQL experience
  • Exposure to Gen AI tools in a risk management context
  • Background in assurance/control testing

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-focused.
  • A confident communicator who can build strong relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working across a range of business areas.

We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support.
