JOB SUMMARY

Due to our continuing growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a talented, highly motivated (associate) scientist at our state-of-the-art drug discovery site in Leiden, the Netherlands.
The (Associate) Scientist will develop and conduct biological assays in accordance with project objectives, supporting project teams. Particularly (primary) human cell–based or stem cell assays in medium and high throughput and across various therapeutic areas. You will be part of a team that is developing and applying models for screening in complex cell-based assays. Technologies that are commonly used at our site are (stem) cell culture, molecular biology, high content imaging, qPCR/ddPCR, immune assays (MSD, ELISA, Luminex etc.), automated liquid handling/robotics and many more. All this is done in a team-oriented, result-driven, international research environment that provides many development opportunities and an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES THAT COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  • Affinity with complex in-vitro biology, such as primary cells, stem cells and/or 3D/organoid cultures.
  • Experience in a CRO or Pharma Environment.
  • Affinity with robotics and high throughput screening.
  • Team-oriented and result-driven attitude
Responsibilities
  • Plan, optimize, validate and execute biological (cell based) assays; experimental design will be done in consultation with the project leader.
  • Assess effects of putative therapeutics (compounds, antibodies, siRNA/shRNA, antisense oligonucleotides) and independently analyse and interpret generated data.
  • Generate high quality slide decks and confidently present these internally and externally with clear rationale.
  • Document performed experiments in (electronic) lab books according to company and patent-acceptable quality standards.
  • Consult appropriate scientific literature to plan and troubleshoot studies.
  • Maintain strong awareness of the relevant scientific literature and contemporary laboratory practices.
    Depending on your experience you will be offered a position as Associate Scientist or Scientist. The job responsibilities and job requirements may differ accordingly.
