POSITION SUMMARY

As an Associate Scientist in Research Biology, your role will be to assist with providing accurate scientific research of experiments to ensure projects are completed to plan and comply with all quality and safety regulations. Additionally, you will need to be able to provide continuous support for the development of new assays and biological test systems offered to clients.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the development of new assays and biological test systems including explant, three-dimensional construct, air-liquid interface, and co-culture systems using both primary cells and tissues.
  • Analyze samples using molecular biology techniques, such as cell and nucleic acid isolation, cDNA prep, RT-qPCR, Flow Cytometry, Histology, ELISA, among others.
  • Assist in the smooth running of lab activities and communicate any lab and project issues promptly to Management.
  • Help maintain lab inventory and instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshooting malfunctions when needed.
  • Assist in the export of new assay techniques to other departments within MedPharm.
  • Adhere to MedPharm’s procedure and guidance documents.
  • Promptly record all data using Good Documentation Practices as per MedPharm procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or a closely related major.
  • 0 up to 3 years of experience in industry and/or academia.
  • Experience at a CDMO or other contract based organization is a plus, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with basic biological lab techniques.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems, but also not afraid to ask questions.
  • Willingness and passion for learning and innovation.
  • Familiarity with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics as well as working with percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) required.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 5%
