Job Summary
Conduct laboratory work for G2M/proactive or analytical projects under the direction of more senior technical leaders; contribute to technical project teams, providing data, & lab support in the area of G2M/proactive or analytical; develop technical information to support project decision-making and for use in customer presentations in order to highlight IFF product advantages.Responsibilities/DescriptionSupport technical role working on strategic or G2M projects - give input on results & findingsManage work assignments from senior technical staffUnderstand the connections between the different functions (R&D, Sales, Perfumery, SDM’s, etc.) & interact with them in order to complete project tasks on timeExecute the relevant parts of the project within the given timelinesDevelop a good understanding of the project management processDesign experiments & develop methods with minimal supervisionDevelop a good understanding of experimental design principlesParticipate in department brainstorming sessionsWith supervision, apply new methodologies to prove concepts are workingSuggest ways to improve current processes or methodologies to reduce time, cost, or increase performanceStability Evaluator Role(if required): conduct formal stability studies following established process & protocol and provide timely documentation &conclusions of completed stability studiesDevelop familiarity with industry media sources to enhance knowledge of future trends(e.g., Happi, Cosmetics & Toiletries)Write up all laboratory notes in IFF knowledge management tools in a clear & concise way to be readily understood by all that have accessAssist in writing reports to be used in presentations & stored in IFF knowledge management tools with the correct search fields addedAssist in writing/developing new protocols for new applicationsBecome proficient in all laboratory procedures, processes, & protocols (e.g., capsule making, evaluation set up, sample making, viscosity measurements)Consult with supervisor on which ST&I disciplines to focus on for training & developmentUnderstand how to conduct simple patent searchesBecome familiar with technical developments by reading scientific literature & patentsSupport competitor IP analysis by carrying out assigned experiments & summarizing resultsReconstruct the competitor experimentation or testing where needed Assist in writing sections of invention disclosure where involved in the experimentation or testingSupport collaborative work from third parties on developing methodology to achieve joint objectives where applicableAssist in preparing the results & findings with third partyDevelop an understanding of the main base components used in leading market benchmark products per relevant category & applicationLearn about all available CI tools & how to select ones most relevant to the objectives of a test or projectBecome familiar with consumer unmet needs in the relevant categories & applicationsWrite a Personal Development Plan with manager that ensures the ability to meet the current job role requirements but gives the required ability to achieve the next level when appropriateDevelop a network of IFF staff that can help achieve the required capabilitiesUtilize internal training tools to enhance both soft skills & technical knowledgeRequirementsRequired Experience:Minimum 1 - 2 years’ working experience in the industrial food, pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, consumer goods, &/or fragrance industry Knowledgeable in lab safety, relevant application, raw materials & chemical processesTraining/CertificationsEssential: BS degree in Science & Technology, Chemistry or related disciplinePreferred: MS degree in Science & Technology, Chemistry or related discipline
