Description
About Stylus Medicine: Stylus Medicine is developing transformative in vivo genetic medicines to unlock cures. Stylus combines engineered recombinases with non-viral delivery to specifically encode therapeutics. The company’s approach is versatile and modular, with potential therapeutic application across oncology, autoimmune, genetic diseases, and beyond. About the Role: Stylus Medicine is seeking an intellectually curious and collaborative Associate Scientist to join our analytical development team and aid in the development of characterization techniques for lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to be used for in vivo delivery of genome engineering material. This role will be responsible for both providing analytical support to the delivery team as well as driving the development of novel analytical techniques. Reporting to the Principal Scientist, LNP Analytics, this individual will play an integral role in advancing transformative in vivo genetic medicines. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Leverage expertise in lipid chemistry, LNP formulation and analytical characterization to advance novel gene editing modalities across different stages of drug development Develop methods such as DLS, MALS, UPLC, HPLC-CAD, IP-RP HPLC, LC-MS/MS, CGE, BLI/SPR, ELISA and ddPCR/qPCR to screen and support optimal LNP formulations for in vitro and in vivo applications Author standard operating procedures, study plans, reports, and present findings to project teams and leadership Work in close collaboration with the cross-functional teams to support in vitro and in vivo experiments assessing biodistribution, safety and efficacy of LNP formulations Foster external collaborations and stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in LNP technology, proposing new approaches to enhance the company’s delivery platforms, as appropriate Qualifications & Skills: Undergraduate or master’s degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field At least 2-4 years of industry/academic experience focusing on LNP characterization Prior experience with characterization of targeted nanoparticles is strongly preferred Strong foundation in lipid chemistry, formulation development, and analytical techniques Familiarity with gene editing modalities or nucleic acid delivery (e.g. CRISPR/Cas, base editing, mRNA, DNA) is a plus Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to meet project deliverables and timelines Demonstrated ability to work independently, multitask effectively, and maintain strong written documentation Pay Range: $105,000 - $115,000
Responsibilities
The Associate Scientist will leverage expertise in lipid chemistry and analytical characterization to advance gene editing modalities. This role involves developing methods to support optimal LNP formulations for in vitro and in vivo applications.
