BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field and
  • 4 years of scientific laboratory experience.

OR

  • Master’s Degree in a scientific field and 2 years of laboratory experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Training in protein biochemistry, including proficiency in protein purification methods with 2-10 years general laboratory experience having performed significant hands-on laboratory work.
  • Experience with modern AKTA chromatography systems (FPLC) for affinity capture and SEC chromatography
  • Experience with high-throughput automated protein purification systems (e.g. Kingfisher)
  • Experience with basic mass-spectrometry.
  • Familiarity with automation and liquid handling systems.
  • Ability to follow established laboratory protocols and adhere to data standards; attention to detail and careful execution of laboratory tasks are essential to our team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with electronic notebooks
  • Must work well in a team environment and be capable of multi-tasking with flexibility

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this exciting role you will join our Biologic Discovery Department, at our research facility in Burnaby, BC, Canada.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to join the CREATE team. This specialized group is responsible for the high-throughput generation of tool and lead candidate large molecules for therapeutic discovery programs. It leverages a state-of-the-art, fully automated Biofoundry to produce recombinant DNA and protein to support early-stage large molecule screening campaigns. The successful candidate will join a larger team dedicated to the identification and characterization of candidate therapeutic proteins for Amgen Research.
You will work in a highly integrated and collaborative team environment and contribute independently to diverse projects depending upon evolving needs and priorities.
This is a contract, on-site laboratory-based role and successful candidates must reside in the Greater Vancouver area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Protein Purification
  • High-throughput purification of proteins using KingFisher automated purification instruments
  • Low-medium throughput purification using AKTA chromatography systems
  • Buffer exchange of purified proteins
  • Protein Analytics
  • High-Performance Liquid Chromatography Size Exclusion Chromatography (HPLC-SEC) analysis of purified proteins
