ABOUT THE ROLE
We are actively looking for a new Associate or Senior Associate to join our Real Estate Disputes team in the Thames Valley. The Team is evolving and expanding as a result of our continued success and there is an exciting opportunity to be part of future growth.
The team advises investors, developers, owners and occupiers of real estate on how best to avoid, manage and resolve real estate issues and disputes. “We listen to client’s priorities and use our skills to reach a swift resolution”. We work closely with our colleagues in the property transactional, construction and planning teams to ensure a full and seamless real estate service for clients.
This opportunity offers you the chance to work with a broad range of clients from international corporates, national and local corporates, NHS, local government, charities, universities and colleges, schools and individuals. As well as the opportunity to work with our established national team of 6 partners and 8 fee earners across all of HCR’s offices.
We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated candidate with Real Estate Disputes experience who is used to working independently within a close team. The successful candidate will be running their own caseload which will involve advising on a diverse mix of:
Real estate issues arising from:
- land sale and purchase transactions
- development agreements
- option and overage provisions
- rights of light
- restrictive covenants
- nuisance
- boundary disputes
- trespassers
- providing strategic advice to obtain vacant possession of development sites.
Landlord and tenant issues, acting for either landlords or tenants, arising from:
- commercial lease renewals
- rent reviews
- lease assignment and subletting, breaches of lease covenants
- unlawful use and alteration
- recovering possession of commercial and residential premises
- effective exercise of lease break rights
- mixed use schemes including statutory right of pre-emption
You will be responsible for:
- Taking instructions and liaising with clients
- Managing your own case load
- Supporting and supervising other fee earners on a variety of cases
- Managing financial outputs and billing responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining a knowledge on legal issues, working collaboratively with colleagues across the team to share knowledge.
- Ensuring work complies with risk management policies and procedures, in line with Data Protection regulations.
- Supporting wider marketing and business development opportunities.
