ABOUT YOU

Ideally, you’ll have a minimum of 3-5 years of years of experience in intellectual property and technology with a strong background in advisory work, IP litigation and commercial pre-litigation advice. Sound consumer law experience will also be favourably considered. We’re looking for a self-starter with strong technical skills who is committed to delivering quality and commercially savvy client service. You should be able to work independently, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and flexibility to meet client needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to thrive in a friendly team environment. While we would prefer you are Brisbane based, we are open to considering candidates based in Melbourne and Sydney.

In this position, you will work closely with our experienced Partners and team members across Australia, focusing on:

  • Advising on legal issues and risk management in technology-related matters, in regulatory, litigious and pre-litigation matters, including defamation.
  • Handling disputes & litigation in relation to IP, particularly in relation to patent enforcement, trademarks, passing off, misleading or deceptive conduct, copyright, designs and confidential information.
  • Providing advice on a range of IP matters including trademark and design prosecution, brand protection, IP commercialisation, and copyright.
  • Advising on & managing global IP portfolios including dealing directly with IP offices and foreign agents.
  • Drafting and filing trademark and design applications.
  • Providing legal counsel to clients on various IT related matters, encompassing intellectual property, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Represent clients in dispute resolution pertaining to technology-related issues.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and legal developments in online regulation
Responsibilities

You will also be actively involved in business development, client management, and mentoring junior staff, in addition to providing legal advice.
