Description Description Horizon is searching for candidates to join its investment team in the NY office for a role underwriting. The candidate will work as part of a team underwriting investment opportunities as well as managing existing portfolio investments. Job Responsibilities Analyze potential investment opportunities via review of offering materials, industry research, financial statement analysis and modeling, etc. Prepare investment committee memos for formal investment approval process and present potential transactions to investment committee. Interface with investment bankers, private equity firms, third-party due diligence providers, external research resources, and other lending professionals as part of the underwriting and due diligence process. Participate in review of legal terms and documentation on individual transactions. Manage portfolio of software investments, including performing ongoing due diligence, monitoring of portfolio companies, and communicating updates to investment committee. Prepare memos summarizing amendment transactions for portfolio deals. Requirements The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in the following areas: (1) Venture debt experience with a technology and/or life science focused bank or venture lending organization, (2) Credit/equity research Bachelor’s degree in finance or other related field Understanding of technology and/or life sciences company metrics and interest in the technology space Strong finance and accounting knowledge, as the candidate will need to build financial models, analyze financial statements, and have a firm grasp on cash flow dynamics. Ability to multi-task while working under tight deadlines. Strict attention to detail and strong mathematical skills. Extensive knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office products. Strong written and oral communication skills, as the candidate will prepare internal investment materials and present to investment committee. Collaborator that enjoys working in a fast-paced, collegial environment. Physical Requirements Sitting: Frequently (approximately 70–80% of the workday) for computer work, phone communication, and administrative tasks. Standing and Walking: Occasionally (approximately 20–30% of the workday), including walking between Monroe offices or meeting rooms. Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds. Reaching: Extending arms to access files, use printers, grab supplies; often includes overhead reach, sometimes with a step stool for higher shelves. Bending/Stooping: Bending at the waist or knees to reach items on low shelves, under desks (cords, equipment), or pick up dropped items. Typing/Keyboard Use: Frequently required for daily computer and administrative tasks. Vision and Hearing: Adequate for reading reports, emails, spreadsheets, and verbal communication. Speaking: Frequent verbal communication with staff, vendors, and external partners.
