JOB DESCRIPTION:

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a passionate and motivated Associate Gameplay Engineer to join the Overwatch team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to grow their technical skills while working alongside experienced engineers, designers, and artists to bring new heroes to life.
As an Associate Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in developing hero gameplay, movement, shooting mechanics, and visual elements. You will gain valuable experience working in C++ and our bespoken engine while solving real-world gameplay challenges and ensuring Overwatch heroes feel smooth and responsive in action. If you have a strong foundation in 3D math, programming, and problem-solving, along with a passion for gaming, this is your chance to level up your career at Blizzard!
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine CA.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1+ years of experience in delivering production-level code in a professional environment or equivalent work/education experience.
  • C++ programming skills and strong math foundation (trigonometry, linear algebra).
  • Interest in gameplay programming, problem-solving, and real-time game performance.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, embrace feedback, and grow in a collaborative team environment.
  • A strong sense of integrity, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and a shared sense of ownership in the success of the team and project.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop simple yet effective gameplay solutions within the performance constraints of real-time gameplay.
  • Debug and fix issues to enhance game feel and player interactions.
  • Work closely with designers, artists, and engineers to create exceptional player experiences.
  • Continuously refine skills, workflows, and processes to drive innovation and efficiency.
