Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division, is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer (Level 2) to support the team in Schriever, Colorado.
Our team focus is on the development of new global military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) ground systems that will manage transmission of protected tactical waveform (a type of secure, anti-jam communication) over Boeing-built Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites and terminals. In addition, the Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Associate Systems Engineer will be part of the highly motivated team of system engineers that provides military customer support of satellite operations and sustaining systems engineering for the Wideband Global Satellite Communications (WGS) program. The successful candidate will provide real-time routine and contingency operations support for all on-station WGS satellites. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to learn about the WGS satellites constellation and different subsystems. You will also have the opportunity to advance your career with the satellite sustainment industry and become a SME in your subsystem.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 2+ years of experience working in Systems Engineering
  • Experience in a large or small team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communications and presentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance or higher
  • Experience responding to anomalies for on-orbit communications satellites
  • Experience working closely with US Military customers in an operational and training environment
  • 2+ years of experience in testing and validation

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Required

Responsibilities
  • Advise the customer in satellite operations and ground command & control sustainment tasks.
  • Author, review and help execute satellite operational procedures.
  • Configure and run simulations to support procedure validation.
  • Provide technical recommendations to the customer engineers and operators.
  • Perform satellite data trending and analysis so that spacecraft performance can be monitored and analyzed.
  • Perform ground computer system software and database testing.
  • Execute procedure and results analysis.
