Description

The Data Services team is responsible for the design, implementation, and tuning of the database engineering behind the content our studio creates. We are looking for an Associate Systems Engineer to join the team in these efforts.
Systems Engineers are expected to collaborate across teams, demonstrate self-direction when needed, and learn through experiencing both success and failure. They must build partnerships with technical and non-technical users, understand their needs, and deliver relevant, sustainable solutions that align with initiatives for both our Burbank and Vancouver studio locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 0 - 2+ Years Database administration and systems engineering experience; can include related internships
  • Experience engineering or maintaining Document databases (Cassandra, Elasticsearch / OpenSearch, and/or MongoDB) as well as Relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres, and/or MSSQL)
  • Experience with Unix shell scripting and system automation
  • Experience with at least one server-side scripting, such as Python, C/C++, or Java

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with TimeScaleDB, Redis, InfluxDB, Grafana, and/or Logstash Knowledge of container fundamentals (e.g. Kubernetes)

  • Previous contributions to architectural design and long term functionality of databases as well as troubleshooting data systems and pipelines
  • Implementation of data ingestion and handling clusters through event streaming platforms, such as Kafka
  • Experience with AWS Database Managed Services

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
    The hiring range for this position in British Columbia, Canada is C$63,400 to C$85,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered
