QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Education (Elementary) or equivalent degree (BA/BSc).
  • B.C. Ministry of Education Teacher Certification (preferred).
  • Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid open work visa.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets).Clear criminal record check.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

As an Associate Teacher, you will work primarily with Kindergarten–Grade 1 students, supporting classroom learning and student well-being. You will collaborate closely with lead teachers, provide coverage when needed, and contribute to the vibrant, community-oriented culture of Pear Tree.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide in-class support to classroom teachers (primarily K/1), working with individuals and groups of students.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations and help set up, use, and organize learning resources.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, scheduled duties (including before/after school care), and field trips.
  • Monitor and report student progress to classroom teachers.
  • Provide classroom coverage for absent teachers (lesson plans provided).
  • Assist with assessment, marking, and posting feedback on e-portfolios.Safeguard students’ physical and socio-emotional well-being, bringing concerns to teachers or leadership.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (CONTRACTUAL):

  • Lead one weekly after-school session (after-school care or an extra-curricular club) each term.
  • Teach one week of Spring Break camp and one week of Summer Camp (specific weeks determined in advance with the school).Attend a 5-day orientation in late August before the school year begins.
