YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

You will be an expert in helping clients embrace and leverage technology in the built environment, adept at applying your skills at city masterplanning through to building fit-outs, working with clients and collaborators at the beginning of their digital transformations through to supervising contractors in delivery of solutions.

Further requirements include:

  • Extensive experience in a Technology role focussed on the built environment.
  • Experience leading the development of technology infrastructures (e.g., Smart Building Technology, Passive ICT infrastructure, Structured Cabling, Wireless Networks, IoT, etc) from brief through to specification and tender support.
  • Previous evidence of project leadership and end-client interaction.
  • Business development experience is highly advantageous.
  • Relevant industrial qualifications and a desire to pursue professional registration with a relevant body.
  • Expertise in a specific field of information technology is important, ideally accompanied by design experience.

Responsibilities

YOUR NEXT ROLE

This role will see you working on both single and multidisciplinary consultancy projects across a range of sectors, including cities, stadia, culture, workplace, transport, education, residential and more. You will be client-facing and on a day-to-day basis cover consultancy activities, design and technical advisory, project management, business development, and R&D.
Within Buro Happold. you will work closely with our technology experts from across the practice involving specialisms such as digital strategy, experience analysts, smart buildings, smart cities, digital twins, digital infrastructure and data analytics. In this role as well as design you will play a key part of developing more business for the team working closely with the discipline leader to grow market share and help realise the discipline’s growth potential.

KEY DUTIES

  • Leading project delivery on behalf of the technology discipline
  • Consulting with clients, collaborators and stakeholders to capture requirements and probe into the desired outcomes
  • Develop briefs and strategies, market capability, roadmaps and budgets taking into account a variety of factors
  • Input into consultative work – will require a good understanding of key business drivers for digital technology and its implementation, and the ability to support clients in developing visions, briefs and strategies for subsequent design work.
  • Communicating with clients to support them in developing their aspirations and ideas to help tailor solutions bespoke to each project, that consider up to date technology and harness the benefits of integration with other services and disciplines.
  • Understanding and advocating smart building and cities technologies; developing s strategies that support the business aspirations of the client’s development.
  • Monitoring yours and others use of project finances; effectively managing time and resource within your team;
  • Mentorship and line management of more junior staff.
  • Take an active role in helping to promote the discipline and engage with senior management in supporting the development of corporate strategy.
