Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

This role will be varied depending on client needs but will certainly involve:

  • Providing practical and risk-based advice on complex procurement issues and on tendering procedures, procurement structures and evaluation/qualification criteria and processes
  • Drafting and advising on all types of procurement documents (under the Public/Utilities/Concession Contracts Regulations, Provider Selection Regime, Procurement Act and private sector documents) including: Tender Notices, Procurement Specific Questionnaires, Invitation Documents, assessment summaries, all Transparency Notices and all associated procedures and protocols.
  • All aspects of procurement regulation to numerous commercial clients, charities and public sector clients including local authorities, central government departments, NHS trusts and registered providers of affordable housing and bidders to those sectors
  • Pro-active participation in marketing initiatives which includes writing articles, presenting at conferences, seminars, client events, Business 2 Business meetings with intermediaries, attending networking events etc.
  • Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions and attending a monthly procurement working group and sector interest groups/communities of practice.
  • Training and development of junior legal staff and secretary (where appropriate)

The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at the Associate grade. In particular for this role we require:

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 3-5 years’ experience in procurement law.
  • A demonstrable interest in public procurement, state aid and some or all of the sectors in which we advise (primarily housing, local government, energy, health, care and construction/development)
  • Excellent technical skills;
  • Strong client focus and service delivery;
  • Drive and enthusiasm;
  • Commercial awareness;
  • Methodical, disciplined and organised approach;
  • Excellent communication skills;
