Position Description
Working Title: Associate Vice President, Faculty Affairs and Development
Department Name: Faculty Affairs and Development
Division: Academic Affairs
Classification Title: Administrator IV
MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.
Position Salary Range: $13,928 - $20,893 per month
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $16,600 - $17,400 per month
Salary is commensurate with experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required Education: Terminal degree appropriate to the applicant’s academic field of expertise or a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Required Experience: At least ten (10) years of experience in higher education, with at least four years of successful administrative experience at or above the level of department chair or equivalent. This experience should have included responsibility for program planning, and direction and coordination for policy development and implementation.
- A minimum of five (5) years of managerial experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of academic personnel services.
- Thorough knowledge of the personnel management policies, programs, relationships, practices and problems unique to the academic environment and higher education.
- Knowledge of the CFA (faculty) collective bargaining agreement.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to make objective analyses of current academic personnel management problems, supplemented by experience in employee relations and collective bargaining.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in senate leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership fostering diversity, inclusion, and equity in a university context.
- Experience with the recruitment of underrepresented faculty is highly desired.
- Successful university teaching experience and a record of research, scholarly and creative activity sufficient to merit appointment as a tenured full professor.
- Experience in academic personnel administration, policies, and procedures in a collective bargaining environment.
- Academic or administrative experience sufficient in scope to have provided substantial experience in meeting and successfully solving a variety of personnel or management problems.

Responsibilities:
- Addresses all faculty collective bargaining issues.
- Counsels and advises President, Provost, Deans and other administrators on various faculty personnel issues.
- Serves as liaison to the Chancellor’s Office Employee Relations for faculty collective bargaining issues and the Office of General Counsel for faculty legal issues.
- Manages Faculty Affairs and Development staff involved in coordinating academic personnel services.
- Administers, coordinates, and secures the integrity of faculty personnel processes such as Retention, Tenure and Promotion (RTP) and Perceived Teaching Effectiveness (PTE).
