Description

Job Description

START HERE. GROW HERE.

Are you ready to help us shape the future of the water industry?
We’re looking for an Associate Water Quality Modeller to be a senior technical resource leading on exciting and challenging water quality assessments in rivers, lakes, and also transitional and coastal waterbodies.
At AECOM, we’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients. Our current clients in the UK vary from water companies, private developers and local government. We also have large contracts for Middle Eastern clients where you could be working on some of the most ambitious projects in the world.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Deliver: Build and check water quality models to assist in UPM studies, permitting studies and EIAs. Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches, with consideration of the risks and opportunities in each. Produce and review high-quality technical reports documenting model build and uncertainties in the model build process.
  • Collaborate: Lead and input into tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion pound framework contracts. Build relationships with clients and colleagues across other technical disciplines; and mentor staff within the team to support their professional development.
  • Quality: Keep up-to-date with developments in legislation and guidelines that may affect our services. Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs to our clients in line with the agreed programme and budget
  • Lead: Work closely with our clients, teams of engineers and technical specialists to ensure successful delivery of fluvial and coastal surface water quality projects.

If you’re passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, we want to hear from you! Why not give our AECOM Water page on LinkedIn a follow to stay updated on the impactful projects we’re working on and see firsthand the difference we’re making in the industry.

READY TO PUSH THE LIMITS OF WHAT’S POSSIBLE?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Hydrology, Engineering or another relevant discipline.
  • Obtained or near to obtaining professional qualification with CIWEM or similar.
  • Significant experience in fluvial and/or coastal water quality modelling software (MIKE+, MIKE21/3 HD/AD/Ecolab, SAGIS-SIMCAT, CORMIX).
  • Experience of model build for UPM studies.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for UPM or WINEP studies.
  • Understanding of hydrological assessments using FEH and REFH2.
  • Experience completing mass balance calculations including simple, flow-weighted and Monte Carlo statistical approaches.
  • Confident using GIS, QGIS, ArcGIS and / or MapInfo.

We celebrate diversity, including neurodiversity, and believe it enriches our team. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and abilities. If you are an applicant with a disability that requires reasonable accommodation to complete the application process, please contact us at ReasonableAccommodations@aecom.com. At AECOM, we value everyone’s unique contributions and perspectives.
If you meet some of the requirements above or have transferable skills you believe would benefit us, we would be delighted to hear from you!
