Business Development Associate - (6 months contract of parental leave coverage)
This position can be fully remote, from anywhere in Canada
This position reports to the Regional Director, Business Development — of the region of the selected candidate. This role provides internal support to the Business Development team in developing research and innovation projects with the academic and private sectors.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Research experience, or a keen interest in research
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and team player
  • Desire to pursue a career in the research and innovation ecosystem, outside the post-secondary field, by being highly involved in the management of funding applications for research projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performance cultureKnowledge of written and spoken English and French is required in this role as you will interact with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders from across Canada

  • Hiring Range: $52,720 - $62,605

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with members of the team to ensure the quality of the research proposals submitted by applicants
  • Follow up with applicants (college and university professors, students, postdocs, industry and community partners) to assure completeness of the proposals and help them build their research budgets
  • Populate and maintain our Client Relationship Management (CRM) database with contacts’ and organizations’ info
  • Answer questions about Mitacs programs coming from students and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to the matching of partner organizations’ projects with post-secondary researchers by helping to manage open projects and student applications.
  • Provide support to the Business Development team as needed, particularly in the administrative follow-up of research and innovation projects, by liaising with other Mitacs departments
