Description Makes major and minor mechanical repairs on a variety of gasoline, diesel, and electronic powered equipment. Inventories parts and supplies. Does related work as required, equipment maintenance and servicing. Requirements WORK PERFORMED: Mechanic 1. Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in golf course maintenance and construction equipment. 2. Keeps records on repairs and maintenance. 3. Instructs operators in use and servicing of powered equipment. 4. Grinds, backlaps, sets and adjusts mowers. 5. Maintains shop equipment and tools. 6. Does welding. 7. Inventories parts and materials. 8. Makes field repairs. 9. Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all powered equipment. 10. May do body and paint work. 11. Maintains shop in an orderly condition. 12. Does related or other work as required. 13. Test-operates repaired equipment. 14. Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic problems. 15. Places safety procedures as number one priority. 16. Effective communication with the Equipment Manager and Golf Course Superintendent. WORK PERFORMED: Course Maintenance Tech 1. *Operates golf course maintenance equipment including fairway mowers, ram lifts, sweepers, triplex, hand mowers and other equipment as needed. 2. Washes equipment after each use. 3. *Inspects equipment periodically throughout the day. 4. Becomes knowledgeable of the correct height of cut throughout the golf course. 5. Must exercise proper etiquette around members and guests on the golf course. 6. Does related or other work as required. 7. *Services and maintains equipment per schedule. 8. *Observes and reports turf or landscape problems to supervisor. 9. *Must ensure that all reels are cutting properly at all times. 10. *Must maintain and operate all equipment in a safe, efficient manner. 11. *Must report any machine malfunction to golf course mechanic or supervisor. 12. Must check fuel and oil levels before leaving shop. 13. Must fuel equipment up at the end of each use. 14. *Must use appropriate safety equipment. PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. *May be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 2. *Requires occasional bending, lifting, stretching. 3. *Must be able to work in the heat and the sun for prolonged periods of time.
