Classification Title: Ast Supt I-II (Mechanical Supervisor) Grade: 24-25, dependent upon experience Requisition No.:  2655 Number of Positions: 1 Location: Oak Ridge Organization: CNO Department: Nuclear Operations Project Assignment: ORNL Posting Date:  1/27/2026 Closing Date: 2/3/2026 RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to and receives operational and functional guidance from the ORNL Mechanical Superintendent or their designee.   Job Related Responsibilities:   * Supervise mechanical craft (Riggers, Equipment Operators, and Truck Drivers) in Corrective Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, and Project tasks. * Assists with the development and implementation of work procedures, work scheduling, project specification conformity, establishment of daily manpower levels, and implementation of safety programs, project conformance to national, local and/or company building codes, and the documentation of daily activities.  * Monitors craft work activities and performance relative to schedules, and work completion deadlines.  * Prepares and reviews plans, specifications, drawings, and schedules to determine field implementation of work phases. * Advises on projections and schedules for manpower, material and equipment requirements for upcoming tasks.   * Could Supervise the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.  * Supervises installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings and specifications.  * Assist in ensuring all maintenance activities are in compliance with design specifications and is completed on schedule. * Demonstrates considerable knowledge/experience of the field construction process and related activities and requirements.    * Monitors and ensures the quality of work performed meets requirements.  * Analyzes manpower, material, equipment requirements, and coordinates the area discipline work plans requirements with others as designated by supervising superintendent.  * Implements and enforces policies and related work rules as established by field construction management.  * Prepares forecasts, as required, and keeps supervisors informed on progress of overall assigned activities.  * Assist superintendents with execution of construction methods, schedules, manning charts, material and equipment requirements.  * Determines that vendors' bids for material and/or equipment are in conformance to specifications * Demonstrated experience in directing work in a radiological operation, Hazwoper site, and confined space work environments. * Demonstrated knowledge of Mechanical disciplines (Riggers, Equipment Operations, Hoisting and Rigging, Welding, etc.). * General knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1925 * Good communication skills, both written and verbal * Ability to read and understand Mechanical drawings. * Demonstrated computer skills for maintenance systems. * Demonstrated flexibility to work multiple tasks. * Able to interface and communicate job requirements with craft personnel. * Proven safety record when providing direction and / or following safety procedures.     Job-Related Qualifications Required: Grade 24: Education: High school diploma or equivalent AND Experience:  10+ years of related work experience in construction industry required.   Grade 25: Education: High school diploma or equivalent AND Experience:     12+ years of related work experience with at least 4 years of experience in field supervision.   PREFERRED: * Direct experience working at UCOR or other DOE sites. * Familiarity with UCOR policies/procedures and organization structure. * Familiarity with contractor interface requirements throughout the DOE complex Relocation: ☐ YES ☒ NO   UCOR prohibits smoking in enclosed areas, including company vehicles.
