Description The Assistant Coach works in collaboration with the Head Coach and Athletic Director to support the overall administration and success of the high school boys’ lacrosse program. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including the discipleship and mentorship of student-athletes, fostering positive parent relations, coordinating scheduling and travel logistics, and assisting with budget management. The Assistant Coach is expected to contribute to a program that upholds the highest standards of conduct while reflecting and advancing CAK’s core values, ensuring that both athletic performance and character development remain central to the team’s mission. Requirements Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) seeks an Assistant Coach who embodies spiritual maturity, leadership, and a deep understanding of the school’s mission and philosophy. The ideal candidate is a born-again Christian committed to modeling God’s truth through mentorship, integrity, and service. Spiritual & Character Expectations Demonstrates a spiritually sensitive approach aligned with CAK’s Christian values. Exhibits spiritual maturity and the ability to lead student-athletes in faith-based growth. Maintains a courteous, professional, and respectful demeanor in all interactions. Exercises discretion and integrity in handling confidential student and family matters. Coaching & Program Development Provides appropriate training, discipline, and coaching to foster a highly competitive and character-driven program. Evaluates individual student-athletes and develops coaching plans to help them reach their full potential. Collaborates with high school and middle school coaches to build continuity and strengthen the overall program. Designs and implements well-structured practices that develop both individual and team skills, using positive reinforcement. Communication & Supervision Communicates proactively with student-athletes and parents/guardians regarding expectations, camps, practices, and game schedules. Supervises student-athletes before and after practices and games, ensuring safety and accountability. Oversees all areas of participation, including gyms, fields, arenas, locker rooms, buses, and other athletic spaces. Operations & Logistics Issues and maintains athletic equipment and uniforms, ensuring proper care and return. Attends all games—home and away—including postseason tournaments. Prepares facilities for practices, games, and events. Conducts pre-season conditioning and practices. May be required to operate a school vehicle for team travel. Participates in all required professional development and coaching meetings. Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills. CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required. Adheres to all TSSAA rules and regulations. Complies with and supports all CAK policies and procedures. The Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) employee must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the school's mission and philosophy. The employee must also be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity and the academic and leadership abilities necessary to teach God’s truth. Effective communication with diverse individuals, appropriate handling of confidential information, and maintaining a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.
