Description
The athletics division is now looking for part-time Athletic Duty Officer to assist in supervising youth athletic practices, games, tournaments, and athletic field rentals at different sites throughout the Town. Candidates should be energetic responsible with strong communication skills and be able to work independently to enforce town policies, procedures as well as ordinances. Duty Officers will be hired as either Athletic Duty Officer I or Athletic Duty Officer II, depending on skills, knowledge, and related experience. All candidates must possess a valid NCDL for this position.
Examples of Duties

1. Supports public utilization of activities, grounds and facilities.
2. Understands, adheres to and enforces department policies and procedures.
3. Demonstrates outstanding customer service at all times including professional and courteous interactions with the public.
4. Performs job with ability to multi-task and change priorities as needed due to weather, staffing, program needs or work load.
5. Serves as a primary point of contact for phone calls, visitors and potential participants.
6. Relay accurate & current information to the public about programs and events.
7. Facilitate the registration process including, but not limited to, giving the customer correct information, processing registrations, checking accuracy of registration forms, answering customer’s questions, and collecting correct fees.
8. Responsible for cash register and all transactions during shift when applicable.
9. Prepares and maintains appropriate files and records including program rosters, budget spreadsheets, program summary reports, and others.
10. Monitors use of office supplies and updating supervisor when supplies are needed.
11. Responsible for opening and closing the facility, as needed.
12. Serves as a positive example of professional conduct for other part-time program staff.
13. Assists with the execution of youth and adult athletic programs by serving as a field supervisor, official, or other staff support for programs, as needed.
14. Inspects equipment and facility to ensure a safe environment for participants and facility users.
15. Helps with ensuring cleanliness and order in the workplace at all times.
16. Assure proper opening and closing of program areas each day, as needed.
17. Ensures proper use of the facility and equipment by the program participants and general public.
18. Processes customer feedback in a professional and courteous manner and refers unresolved issues to the appropriate full-time staff.
19. Assist with departmental special events, as necessary.
20. Assist with setting-up necessary equipment prior to start of facility rental and breaking-down following a facility rental.
21. Ensure an alcohol/drug free environment.
22. Operation of town vehicles and minor maintenance of sports related equipment.
23. Performs other related tasks as required.
24. All essential functions & tasks are subject to change at any time based on discretion of the department management, as necessary.
Typical Qualifications
Must possess a general proficiency with typing, computer applications including Microsoft Office, good organizational skills, and a pleasant telephone manner; ability to operate and maintain order in a public facility; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, and the general public;
Supplemental Information
Graduation from high school and a minimum of two years of responsible work experience. College degree the field in Recreation or Sport Management field is preferred
