About the Role We are seeking a dedicated, skilled Athletic Trainer to contribute to the mission of the United States Marine Corps’ Sports Medicine Injury Prevention (SMIP) Program. As an Athletic Trainer (ATC), you will play a key role in optimizing Marine performance and readiness, injury prevention, and recovery in a high-performance, tactical environment. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside an interdisciplinary team dedicated to enhancing the health and durability of active-duty service members. This role is ideal for Athletic Trainers looking to transition from traditional sports settings into a structured, mission-driven environment, working with tactical athletes while maintaining a strong work-life balance. This is fully on-site at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) - Jacksonville, NC Responsibilities Work collaboratively with a diverse team that may include physical therapists, strength and conditioning coaches, dietitians, cognitive performance experts, and occupational therapists. Contribute to soldier readiness by delivering prevention-focused care, acute injury management, and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries. Support performance optimization strategies that address the five readiness domains: physical, mental, nutritional, sleep, and spiritual. Support unit leaders with evidence-based strategies to reduce injuries, promote recovery, and enhance overall unit readiness. Leverage data and tools developed by the Center for Initial Military Training (CIMT) to track and improve performance outcomes. Serve as a key player in improving soldier performance, ACFT pass rates, and resilience across the force. Requirements Required Skills and Experience Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional AT experience (post-certification), with active practice in at least 1 year of the last 3 years as a Certified Athletic Trainer with collegiate athletes, professional/Olympic athletes, or military personnel. A waiver may be requested to consider the circumstances surrounding the demonstrated experience and reviewed and approved at the Government's discretion. Demonstrated strength and conditioning experience. Ability to obtain AT licensure in the assigned state if not currently licensed in the state of hire. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. National Provider Identifier (NPI), or the ability to obtain. Must be a U.S. citizen to meet federal government contract requirements. Education and Certifications Bachelor's degree (master’s preferred) in Athletic Training or similar degree. BOC Certified (ATC) - Passing score required to be credentialed as ATC. National Provider Identifier (NPI). Current, unrestricted Athletic Trainer license in any U.S. state/territory. Physical Requirements The role is dynamic and on-site, requiring adaptability in a fast-paced and multifaceted environment. Duties and priorities may shift throughout the workday, and interaction with soldiers during training or recovery is hands-on and proactive. May involve standing, walking, lifting, and supporting physical readiness activities. Ability to adapt to dynamic conditions and field-based settings. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds and spend time on feet, in the elements, while carrying supplies. Complete a Physical and obtain required immunizations, or be able to obtain (post-offer) as required by the client.
