Description MUST DO Evaluate injuries and physical conditions of student athletes and make recommendations for medical attention when deemed necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES Consult with coaches regarding the condition and status of athletes who have sustained injuries and have been treated or are currently receiving care Be available for coverage before, during, and after all team workouts and home contests Oversee and coordinate students in the Student Athletic Training program Consult with coaches regarding the status of athletes currently receiving care Supervise and oversee mandatory and random drug/vape testing for athletes Be responsible for maintaining and meeting professional development criteria as outlined by the NATA Be in compliance with all athletic training guidelines as outlined by the NATA Administer treatment and rehabilitation as recommended by physicians and surgeons Prepare athletes for an activity when specific care is necessary to protect the athlete Consult with the Athletic Director concerning specific responsibilities and general procedures of the Training Department Keep accurate, specific, and up-to-date training records for each athlete. Communicate with parents of the injured athlete Requirements Set an example of Christ-like character for the athletes and community through actions, language, and appearance Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification Maintain current state licensure in accordance with the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care Ability to maintain confidentiality Excellent communication skills Respond rapidly and appropriately to parents, students, and staff Self-motivated Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, handheld learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. WORK SCHEDULE 40 hours per week
Responsibilities
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for evaluating athlete injuries, coordinating medical care, and administering rehabilitation programs. They must also oversee drug testing, maintain accurate medical records, and provide coverage for all team workouts and home contests.
