Job Summary
Sidwell Friends School, a Quaker day school with campuses in Bethesda and Washington D.C., seeks two part-time (20-30 hrs/wk) highly motivated and skilled professional Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) to work with student athletes in grades 5 through 12 on the D.C. campus. The primary responsibilities for the Athletic Trainers are to provide athletic training support by evaluating injuries, coordinating with treating physicians to establish treatment protocols, and collaborating with coaches and the Athletic Director to implement health and safety protocols during practices and games throughout the year, including evenings and weekends.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training; Master’s degree preferred.
  • National Athletic Trainers Association-Board of Certification (NATA-BOC) Certification.
  • Licensed by the DC Health Board or eligible to obtain/transfer a license.
  • Valid and Current First Aid, CPR/AED certification.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Previous secondary school experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply, relay, and implement all relevant health policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic training support for student-athletes (grades 5 through 12) during practices and games.
  • Evaluate injuries and establish treatment/rehabilitation protocols in collaboration with supervising physicians and the strength and conditioning coach.
  • Coordinate with the School’s Health Services Office and with the treating physicians to administer treatments and maintain a record of all treatments.
  • Document all reported injuries promptly.
  • Supervise the athletic training room, maintain training equipment, and ensure that the room is stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Coordinate with the School’s Health Services Office to administer the concussion protocol.
  • Monitor weather conditions to ascertain safety for outdoor physical activity in the event of excessive heat or cold, severe weather warnings, lightning, etc.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain effective relationships with student-athletes, coaches, parents, school administrators, treating physicians, and faculty and staff.
