Description Learn More about our Faculty of Friends HERE Job Title: Athletic Trainer Reports to: Athletic Director FLSA Status: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Job Summary: The Athletic Trainer supports the mission of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School by promoting the health and safety of student-athletes. The trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries, and works closely with coaches, student-athletes, and medical professionals to ensure safe participation in all school-sponsored athletic programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Provide first aid, emergency care, and injury assessment for student-athletes during practices and games. · Develop and implement injury prevention programs including strength and conditioning guidance, taping, bracing, and stretching protocols. · Maintain detailed records of injuries, treatment plans, and progress for each student-athlete. · Coordinate care with physicians and medical professionals as needed; assist with referrals and follow-ups. · Attend home athletic events and travel with teams when necessary. · Communicate with coaches, parents, and administration regarding athlete health, playing status, and rehabilitation progress. · Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inventory of athletic training equipment and supplies. · Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to concussion protocol, heat illness prevention, and emergency action plans. · Maintain compliance with state and diocesan health and safety regulations. · Serve as a resource for education on injury prevention, nutrition, and wellness for athletes and coaching staff. Qualifications: · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field. · Licensed in the state of Missouri under the Board of Athletic Trainers · Certified by the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification · Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. · Strong communication and organizational skills. · Ability to work evenings and weekends as athletic schedules require. · Understanding and support of the Catholic mission of the school. Preferred Qualifications: · Experience in a high school setting. · Knowledge of student-athlete development and adolescent health. Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor athletic environments, with some travel required. Fast-paced and physically active position, requiring lifting of equipment and extended periods of standing or walking.
