MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • A diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in an appropriate specialty or a secondary school diploma (DES) or have a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by competent authority.
  • Must possess excellent English and French language skills (written and spoken).
  • Must have at least one (1) year of pertinent experience.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Holding a First Aid and CPR Certification (RCR et premiers soins) – would be considered an asset.
  • Should possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Should have a strong work ethic and exercise discretion.

Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the primary role of the person in this position is to assist and support students with a disability in fully participating in courses and activities at the College. The role involves accompanying the students in their learning environments, providing assistance based on their individual needs, and ensuring their safety, inclusion, and well-being.

DUTIES

  • Accompany and support the student in the classroom and other learning environments as needed.
  • Help the student access resources to meet their educational needs.
  • Coordinate with teachers and other support staff to ensure consistent and effective support.
  • Provide respectful behavioral guidance to encourage positive, appropriate conduct.
  • Assist with mobility and accessibility to ensure safe navigation on campus.
  • Assist in organizing and handling of materials or tools for academic and extracurricular activities.
  • Support the student’s active participation and inclusion during group activities.
  • Report observations regarding the student’s needs and behaviors to teachers or relevant staff.
  • Use available technology and communication tools to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of the student’s progress and interventions in line with their learning plan.
  • Assist and encourage the student in using assistive technology when required.
  • Promote the students’ independence and self-advocacy skills.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
