Description

The Ohio Board of Nursing is seeking a qualified candidate for our available Attorney 4 position to assist in the Compliance Unit. This position will work under the direction/supervision of a Supervising Attorney and will perform the following job duties: Conduct legal research and prepare reports for the Board of Nursing Compliance Teams. Analyze settlement offers related to administrative appeal cases. Determine what evidence may be needed and what course of action is recommended for alleged violations of the Nurse Practice Act. Review completed investigation reports and monitoring records to determine if sufficient evidence exists to propose disciplinary action. Prepares legal documents for disciplinary action as determined by the Board. Assists with conducting settlement conferences. Provides advice to departmental administrative support staff on matters of multiple and complex legal and factual issues. Responds to inquiries from general public and provides excellent customer service. Discusses the law regulating the practice of nursing and Board rules and policies, as they relate to the disciplinary process, with the health care community, licensees and the public. Responds to inquiries about the Board (e.g., in person, in writing, via email, USPS mail, etc.). Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code; 6 mos. exp. as licensed attorney. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure. Responsibilities

The attorney will conduct legal research, analyze settlement offers, and review investigation reports to determine appropriate disciplinary actions for the Board of Nursing. They will also provide legal advice to staff and respond to inquiries from the public and the healthcare community regarding Board rules and policies.
