Description
The Division of Financial Institutions ensures Ohioans’ money is safe by regulating financial institutions and service providers. This includes examining, supervising and regulating Ohio chartered banks and credit unions, and licensing and regulating non-depository mortgage brokers, mortgage loan originators, and other consumer lenders. The Division’s Office of Consumer Affairs provides assistance to consumers to help resolve complaints against these institutions and works to provide education to Ohioans regarding financial literacy and other consumer protection topics. What You'll Do: Enforcement Attorney: Responsible for all regulatory regimes and license types administered by the Division’s Consumer Finance Section, including: Ohio’s Small Loan Act, Short-Term Loan Act, Consumer Installment Loan Act, General Loan Act, check cashers, mortgage companies, mortgage brokers, precious metal dealers, and pawnbrokers. Responsible for handling all aspects of a full enforcement docket, including: evaluating the strength of cases, conducting legal research as necessary, developing and recommending investigative strategies, drafting subpoenas and interviewing potential fact witnesses when necessary, developing theories of the case and facilitating settlements, drafting notices of intent and settlement, and coordinating all aspects of administrative or civil enforcement actions with and through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Respond to inquiries from, and provide legal advice to, Consumer Finance staff on an as-needed basis. Works with Division Counsel and other staff on miscellaneous projects on an as-needed basis. Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code; 12 mos. exp. as licensed attorney; 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development. Job Skills: Attorney/Legal
